OMG

I had anatomy prac just now, and we got to touch a dead body. Yep, a cadaver. AWESOME

Our lady cadaver died of bowel cancer. And donated her body to science (Monash in specific). Haha

We got to see and touch whatever parts the 2nd years dissected. Which so far are only regions of the head and thorax. So I got to touch the brain (which was cut into 3 smaller parts), both the lungs, the heart (atria and ventricles cut open to see the inside), the skull, an eyeball, ribs, muscles and see the body layers in general. SO AWESOME

Don't worry, it was all preserved in formaldehyde. So the body and the organs looked fake anyway. But still it was cool.

The smell of formaldehyde actually made me hungry. No, I'm not weird; formaldehyde either makes you really sick, hungry or doesn't have any effect at all. And I got hungry. Haha

Oh and we got to see like where the organs are properly positioned as well with all the arteries and muscles fitting in and stuff. Our awesome surgical registrar like showed us how the heart and lungs operated as well. COOLNESS

We'll get more chances later in the term to look at different parts of the body, depending on how fast the 2nd years can dissect the cadavers. Since we don't get to dissect them ourselves yet. But we'll get that opportunity next semester. Double awesomeness. :)

Well, I gotta run to the library to print notes and some work now.

Bye peeps! :)
