THE BOY IN THE CUPBOARD

Trapped in a cupboard within an empty room,
Soft rays of light penetrating between the doors,
But how can those shimmering little streams,
Erase the darkness forevermore?

The boy sits alone in the cupboard,
Flickering beams of light long ignored,
How could he realise the sudden blackout outside,
With the absence of a panicked furore?

Outside his cupboard a fire is born,
A loose wire's spark raging down the walls,
But how could the boy realise the danger outside,
When he is trapped in that cupboard so small?

Slowly the fire spawns closer and closer,
Devouring everything for its hunger to sate,
The boy felt the heat and realised the danger,
But how could he change his oncoming fate?

The crackling fire laughs at the boy,
And he begins to fear his doom,
But how could the boy notice the panic button on his right,
With his eyes still trapped in the gloom?
